Went to the dentist yesterday to adjust my retainers (one of the assistants commented on how white my teeth are!) then did some shopping with my mother and sisters. I will be making a new post later with my purchases. We also bought some macarons on sale- 3 boxes for the price of 2! Mmm…
Tomorrow will be spent going to a Hong Kong food festival (I heard “food” and that was enough to get me to go) and maybe ice-skating. Which means I will need to get through a lot of holiday homework today as I’ve already slacked off the entire weekend. I really don’t want to leave everything to last minute (although I’ll probably end up doing so anyway).
P.S.- I made a new watermark! I felt too many people were doing the cursive-blog-name-over-pixel-tumblr thing so I decided to go with something new. Like it?

Never let go.

In an attempt to find inspiration for a short story (or in other words, procrastinate), I shall blog.

Yesterday, I went to see Titanic in IMAX with my dad. Why my dad of all people you ask? Because everyone else I knew either had to study for their IELTS test (English test for students wanting to study overseas), or had a dentist appointment. I was even desperate enough to call up my ex (with whom I am on friend terms with now) and ask him to watch it with me but the cinema was too far for him. My city only has two IMAX theatres, both of which are downtown which is about a 30-40 minute drive away depending on the traffic. So yes, I ended up going with my dad which was not awkward at all -sarcasm-. Actually, it really was kind of okay. Luckily China censored the nude scene in the 3D versions. Their reason? The government was afraid people might reach out to touch, um, you know what due to the realistic dimensions and as a result, hit the head of the person in front of them. There was a report online that during the first screening of the movie this year, at the moment where that scene was cut, the whole theatre swore in unison. Fun fact of the day.

It was actually some nice father-daughter bonding time. In fact, it was probably the longest we’ve spent in each other’s company for a while. I miss the old days were he would teach me English idioms over a cup of milk every night. Then life got in the way…

Since I feel like I haven’t been posting any photos lately, here’s some random ones.

Falsies my sister picked up for me yesterday. I’ll be needed them for several occasions next week!

Happy Valentines Day everyone! I spent the day munching on chocolates, watching TV shows and my last James Dean movie, Giant. Surprisingly, I didn’t feel lonely at all or any compulsive need to call my ex (actually, during that sentence was the first time my mind strayed to him today). Today really was just like any other day for me- except I sort of gave myself the day off from any sort of work and just lounged around my room. How did everyone else spend Valentine’s Day?

I just had the most amazing day! My spirits are so high that I laughed for 5 minutes straight until my stomach hurt and tears streamed when my sister said something witty at our buffet dinner tonight (we’ve been eating out a lot this week since my aunt and uncle have come to visit). As you have probably guessed, my vocal and guitar lessons went quite well! I’ll update more on that tomorrow. For now, I’m going to munch on some macarons whiling watching the newest Ringer episode then return all your lovely messages.

‘Tis the season to be jolly.

Well, the past few days have been quite eventful, not to mention exhausting for me. Over the span of three days, I travelled to three cities. I feel pretty much dead on my feet and relieved that I am finally wedged between my pillows and blanket. I will do a full update tomorrow on my little trip so expect lots of photo spam!

Our original purpose for this trip was to renew our visas (my family and I are Australian citizens living in China), but due to various reasons, that failed miserably. However, we found out that those under 18 do not have to be present to register for a visa so only my dad has to go back once he has all the documents needed to renew my visa.

In spite of everything, the trip was not a complete waste. I got to eat a lot of good food and did some shopping…okay, ALOT of shopping…I can’t wait to show you guys some of the lovely dresses I picked up.

I wish a very merry Christmas to all my wonderful followers! You guys have made my time on Tumblr worthwhile and I sincerely thank each and every one of you for taking the time to follow me, like my posts and send comments/messages. Just know that I am so grateful <3

A much needed caffeine fix after listening to the adults go on about politics, divorced friends of friends and Chinese twitter. I’m almost brain-dead. I am finally returning home this afternoon! I guess my first few hours of Christmas will be either spent in the air or in an airport. A rather depressing prospect is comparison to my original plans. The rest of Christmas day will be most likely devoted to catching up on sleep and homework. Merry Christmas to all my lovely followers! I hope everyone enjoys the holidays and stays safe

I was hesitant about trying the Toffee Nut Latte because I always get some sort of caramel flavored coffee. But it turned out to be heaven for my taste buds.

Settling in to study for my chapter test tomorrow with a glass of Milo. So regret the weekend of procrastination. Somehow, no matter how determined I am to study, I always find myself cramming on study nights/early monday mornings. It’s a curse I tell you! Hopefully, I’ll be done by 1 am at the latest…

I finally had my camera fixed this weekend. Despite its crappy quality, I still missed it. Took a photo of the Milo and whipped cream I made for myself this morning. It’s my new thing.
Due to previous weekend procrastination, I have a 500 word essay to do and more than 100 Chinese words to memorize for tomorrow. I have written exactly 93 words on my essay and have probably 70-60 Chinese words to go. It’s going to be a loooong night…

Outrageously overpriced mints I bought from an exports supermarket in Shenzhen. They don’t taste that good either. I just had my eye on the pretty packaging -superficial fail face-

Pure Bliss

I had about 4 meals in Hong Kong. That was all it took to make me realize I had not eaten anything legit in the city I live in. I am not even exaggerating. Restaurants I had previously thought of as O.K. were shamed by what I had in HK. The pasta in the first photo was a dish I ordered in Hard Rock cafe. The creamy cheese swirled in my mouth and melted as its warmth coursed down my throat, perfectly complimented by the tender chicken and garlic bread. I am really picky about my bread but these were toasted to perfection. At our hotel, my dad and I were given free buffet breakfast coupons and boy did I get the most out of it. I ate two pieces of toast, three sausages, one hash brown, one beef patty, one croissant and a tub of yogurt. Perhaps I had been deprived from authentic western food for too long but everything was too delicious for me to resist.

The service was 5 star everywhere we went. Even in small noodle bars, the staff was SO nice and attentive. To be honest, it kind of freaked me out at first because I was so used to mainland China’s typical service which consists of impatient glares and irritated barks. As I am someone who cares very much about good food, I would definitely consider living in Hong Kong in the future.

Drinking some chilled banana milk and watching Pretty Little Liars before bed. It has been a dramatic, emotional roller coaster of a day. I am so glad to have these final 40 minutes to indulge in some TV before drifting off to what will most likely be an unsettling slumber, laced with dreams.
