I'm Lily and I'm a 17 year old student/blogger. This is my personal blog where you can take a glimpse into my find and life through my writing and photos. I cherish my family and friends. I have a passion for period films, anything vintage, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, sitcoms, nature, windy nights, meeting interesting people, performing on stage, blogging and reading novels. I am a romantic and will never lose faith in true love. I want the most out of life. More?

A flower given to me while I was singing on stage by some random guy in the audience…and he blew me a kiss…oh the things people do when they are drunk. And yes, that is an iPad coaster- it’s from the gift bags. In case you didn’t see my last post, I’m at my dad’s new company’s new year’s concert in Suzhou. There, now this post makes more sense right?
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas this year! For me, it was rather uneventful and rather lacking in holiday spirit but hey, it’s China. No one really celebrates it here because most people are not Christians. Not to mention, our impromptu trip to HK/Guangzhou/Shenzhen was so exhausting that none of my family were really in the mood to celebrate. But it’s all good. I caught up on some much needed beauty sleep and the rest of my Christmas flew by with homework, potato chips and Marilyn Monroe movies. Since none of my friends celebrate Christmas, I have no relatives where we live and I did not ask for anything from my parents this year, I didn’t really get any Christmas presents. However, I did ALOT of shopping in HK and Guangzhou which sorta makes up for it I guess. Will share my purchases tomorrow.
I do miss the Christmases we had back in Australia when I was a kid though. The excitement, the present opening and the feast of a Christmas dinner with all our friends and family. Somehow, the spirit of Christmas just deteriorated over time in China.
Anyway, enough rambling! Don’t know if I’m even making sense anymore. Here are just some random photos I took over the last few days~
Christmas this year was…well, un-Christmas like. But there’s always Chinese New Year to look forward to :) (not the actual new year because I’ll be toiling away at my last-minute college apps…)
Well, the past few days have been quite eventful, not to mention exhausting for me. Over the span of three days, I travelled to three cities. I feel pretty much dead on my feet and relieved that I am finally wedged between my pillows and blanket. I will do a full update tomorrow on my little trip so expect lots of photo spam!
Our original purpose for this trip was to renew our visas (my family and I are Australian citizens living in China), but due to various reasons, that failed miserably. However, we found out that those under 18 do not have to be present to register for a visa so only my dad has to go back once he has all the documents needed to renew my visa.
In spite of everything, the trip was not a complete waste. I got to eat a lot of good food and did some shopping…okay, ALOT of shopping…I can’t wait to show you guys some of the lovely dresses I picked up.
I wish a very merry Christmas to all my wonderful followers! You guys have made my time on Tumblr worthwhile and I sincerely thank each and every one of you for taking the time to follow me, like my posts and send comments/messages. Just know that I am so grateful <3
A much needed caffeine fix after listening to the adults go on about politics, divorced friends of friends and Chinese twitter. I’m almost brain-dead. I am finally returning home this afternoon! I guess my first few hours of Christmas will be either spent in the air or in an airport. A rather depressing prospect is comparison to my original plans. The rest of Christmas day will be most likely devoted to catching up on sleep and homework. Merry Christmas to all my lovely followers! I hope everyone enjoys the holidays and stays safe
I was hesitant about trying the Toffee Nut Latte because I always get some sort of caramel flavored coffee. But it turned out to be heaven for my taste buds.
It’s 3am and I am finally lying on a bed. Feeling completely wrecked. Our flight was delayed (as always in China) so we arrived much later than anticipated. We’re currently staying at a friend’s place in Shenzhen and will take a taxi to HK in the morning. That means I will be operating on four hours of sleep…
Thank you everyone for the lovely replies on my last post
Last night, while I was diligently working on my trig homework in my dorm, my phone suddenly rings and I see it’s someone calling from home. I know it’s my mum because she’s the only one who ever calls me from home and only ever for three reasons: 1. An emergency 2. A favour 3. She wants to rave about my latest report card. Luckily, it was number one (don’t get me wrong, I love it when my parents are proud of me but my mum takes it a notch too far). Apparently there’s something wrong with our visas (I’m an Australian citizen living in China so I need a visa) and we need to make an immediate trip to Hong Kong.
The second I heard the news I was like, okay this is awesome! Christmas in Hong Kong- I can totally live with that. But then my eyes dropped to my sine graph and I was reminded of all the assignments and upcoming tests not to mention my looming university application deadlines. How on earth am I going to manage all that with four days in Hong Kong. Not that I have much of a choice. The alternative is getting deported. That probably wont do much for my grades except maybe my teachers will be more lenient with deadlines.
I have resolved to bring all my textbooks along with me and download all my PowerPoint notes onto my iPad and write assignments on the plane and any other transportation we board. I guess it’s good bye sleep for the next few days. But that the same time, I am completely thrilled about being out of my city for a couple of days and being able to wear cute sweaters again without covering up with bulky coats what with the warmer weather and all.
Seeing as I most likely will not have Internet, it’s good bye blog until Sunday! So happy holidays to all my followers :)
Enjoying a caramel macchiato at Guangzhou airport. I’ll be greeting my much missed bed in a few hours :) Ugh you cannot even fathom how exhausted I am. I can’t believe I still have school on Monday D:
These are the last batch of photos from my little trip, all from my time in Shenzhen. The first three were taken on an art deco-themed street filled with galleries and swanky cafes. The last was at a European-themed street dominated by florists.
I don’t know if this vintage fire engine is legit but it’s still awesome anyway.
Apparently, this was some sort of wedding get-up…?
My ill-advised shoe choice prevented me from climbing this. Was sad…
I’d die of happiness if my future prom date picked me up in one of these. Which would probably put a damper on the evening but still totally worth it! ;P
On the train back to my hotel after the SATs.
The last of my photos from Hong Kong. Just a random compilation- Enjoy!
Outrageously overpriced mints I bought from an exports supermarket in Shenzhen. They don’t taste that good either. I just had my eye on the pretty packaging -superficial fail face-
